People who have worked in the Forest or have lived close by in Hainault, Chigwell Row and Lambourne End for most of their lives tell their reminiscences of the Forest.
John lived in Hainault and Lambourne End. Worked as a Keeper for the GLC, and as a Foreman in Hainault Forest for Redbridge Council until his retirement.
Derek lived in Lambourne End and Foxburrows Cottages as a Keeper and later as Superintendent of the Forest in the days of the Greater London Council, retiring in 1986.
Olive lived in Hainault and moved to Lambourne End on marriage in 1952. Her husband Frank worked on a farm at Lambourne End and then worked on the Golf Course and the Forest.
Lottie and her brothers and sister lived in Foxburrows Cottages, Hainault Forest Country Park. Some of the family were born there. Her father was the first forest keeper employed by the L.C.C. on the recommendation of Edward North Buxton.
Sue Dick recalls her husband's time with West Ham United, and as an International Scottish footballer, and a coach.
MIKE DENNIS 1949 - 2006 Much respected ornithologist and conservationist who lived in Collier Row and whose local patch was Hainault Forest for over forty years. Page added 31st December 2007.
