FIELD WOODRUSH Luzula campestris found in the forest glades in short grassland. Flowers in early spring.

REMOTE SEDGE Carex remota. A large area of bright green tussocks close to Roe's Well, also in other parts of the wet woodland areas.  

GREATER POND SEDGE Carex riparia. A large area of the sedge can be found in the damp clearing south-west of  the lake. Male spikelets at top of inflorescence and also at the tip of the female spikelets.

SEA CLUB-RUSH Scirpus maritimus. A large flowered sedge up to 1m. tall. Despite its name it is found around the north and western margins of the lake. It is a rare plant inland.  Up to 1m. tall.
FALSE FOX SEDGE Carex otrubae. Up to 60cm tall. Found on north side of lake. Inflorescence 4.5cm.

OVAL SEDGE Carex ovalis 

A grassland sedge up to 30cm with thin grass-like leaves.  Up to 30cm. tall.  Inflorescence  2.5cm. 

Found on the heathland and edges of woodland rides.

REMOTE SEDGE Carex remota Plentiful around Roe's Well where it forms large bright green tussocks, up to 70cm. tall.
PENDULOUS SEDGE Carex pendula found in wet areas within the woodland where it forms large tussocks with flowering stems up to 1.8m.
PENDULOUS SEDGE Carex pendula. One or two male spikes are on the tip of the inflorescence, with up to 5 female spikes behind. Spikes about 15cm. long.

WOOD SEDGE Carex sylvatica. Plentiful around Roe's Well. 

Up to 60cm. tall.  Male spikelets at top of inflorescence.

Female spikelet lengths 4 - 6cms.

TOAD RUSH Juncus bufonis

Occasionally found on wet paths in Lambourne Wood. It is an annual.

It is branched at the base giving it a tufted appearance. Length of flowering stem up to 10cm.

COMPACT RUSH

Juncus conglomeratus.

Thick stemmed 3mm, robust, flowers compact. Up to 1m. tall.

In damp meadow near the lake and on the heathland area.

HARD RUSH

Juncus inflexus

Thin stemmed

1-1.5mm bluish-green in colour. Up to 60cm. tall.

In damp meadows especially near the lake.

SOFT RUSH

Juncus effusus

Thick stemmed 3mm. bright green.

Up to 1.5m tall. Plentiful around Roe's Well.
