On
Centenary Day, Cathy Pace, of Culture, Sport & Community Learning
Services, inaugurated the London Borough of Redbridge's Photographic
Competition to celebrate 100 years of Hainault Forest. Two prizes of £50
were kindly donated by Hainault Business Park.
There were
two categories for entry:
Happy
Memories, which covered any images taken in Hainault Forest at any
time, and Memories
of Centenary Day,
which covered any images taken during the celebrations on 15th July.
The
response to the competition was very good and the judges had a hard job
selecting the winning entries, as the quality of the majority of images
submitted were of a very high standard.
The two
winners were Mrs Lynn Beckles of Romford for her Centenary Day
image of children in a sack race, and
Ron
Andrews of Chingford for his image of the Buckhurst Hill Community
Walking Group on a frosty morning in the forest.
All of the
many images are currently on display at the Country Park Visitors Centre,
until the end of August.
On the 11th
August at the Country Park, the two winners were presented with their
certificates and cheques for £50 by Chris Wyles, Joint Chairperson of the
Hainault Business Park, with Iain Varah, Chief Officer Culture, Sport &
Community Learning, London Borough of Redbridge in attendance.
