People who have occupied the farmhouse and cottages at Foxburrows.

 

CHIGWELL ROW RESIDENT

Has lived in Chigwell Row for all her 83 years.

   

MIKE DENNIS  1949 - 2006

Much respected ornithologist and conservationist who lived in Collier Row and whose local patch was Hainault Forest for over forty years.

 

JOHN DICK 1930 - 2000

SUE DICK recalls her husband JOHN's time with West Ham United, and as an International Scottish footballer, and a coach.

People who loved the Forest and are remembered by their loved ones.

 

OLIVE GALPIN

OLIVE lived in Hainault and moved to Lambourne End on marriage in 1952. Her husband FRANK worked on a farm at Lambourne End and then worked on the Golf Course and the Forest.

 

CHARLOTTE HARVEY 1915 - 2009

LOTTIE and her brothers and sister SUSIE lived in Foxburrows Cottages, Hainault Forest Country Park. Some of the family were born there. Her father was the first forest keeper employed by the L.C.C. on the recommendation of Edward North Buxton.

 

JOHN LEBEAU

JOHN lived in Hainault and Lambourne End. Worked as a Keeper for the GLC, and as a Foreman in Hainault Forest for Redbridge Council until his retirement.

 

NEW EVELYN LEVER

EVELYN recalls her childhood in the Forest and her father FREDERICK REEVES a Forest Keeper.

 

DEREK MORTON

DEREK lived in Lambourne End and Foxburrows Cottages as a Keeper and later as Superintendent of the Forest in the days of the Greater London Council, retiring in 1986.
