DOG ROSE  ROBIN'S PINCUSHION

 A Gall wasp.

ROBIN'S PINCUSHION An over wintering gall which has turned brown and woody during Autumn and Winter 2007. This has been cut open to reveal the multichambers, some occupied by gall wasp larvae.  Scan 02.01.08.

ROSE STEM GALLS Agent unknown. Often many on a stem occurring at the junction of the main stem and a lateral flowering stem. They only partially envelop the stem. They are very woody and no chambers are found in cross section. Probable bacterial in origin. Scan 02.01.08.
